Dear Reader,

So it begins! After mulling it over many years, I’ve finally decided to try the waters with content creation. More specifically, I will try my hand at tech reviews. Isn’t that niche already crowded — you ask? You would be correct. But as a fellow maple syrup drinking fiend, I realized that there weren’t many Canadian tech reviewers. Often times, products discussed aren’t available in Canada or they need to be shipped from the States.

My goal with the website and the YouTube channel PoutinePixels is to bring forward a Canadian perspective to tech reviews. I hope to promote Canadian tech products, should they be available. Furthermore, I’m hoping that my experience getting into content creation can be a useful trampoline for the reviews I will be doing by introducing products that I will use to produce, edit and publish both written and video content. As a sneak peak, my first review will actually discuss the purchase of Warm Box’s Wireless Lavalier Microphone to have better quality recordings for the video portion of the review. I also purchased Weilisi 10″ Ring Light with Stand to help with the lighting as I will be recording using my iPhone 13.

I keep reading that expensive gear isn’t require to start publishing videos, so this will be the first test of that statement. As a spoiler, I did forget to record the unboxing so there’s that! 🙂

As this is a new experience for me, I look forward to your feedback, so that I may improve both the website and the videos.
